Child Development is a full year class that includes classroom instruction as well as completing projects on a college level. You may receive 3 hours of college credit for this class with an 80 or higher grade average on departmental tests and observations that meet college requirements. This college credit is recognized by community and four year colleges, but the final decision is up to each receiving institution. This credit is available through an articulation with Austin Community College. For more information please contact Mrs. Betzner.
To reinforce learning, students will have the opportunity to work, alongside NAEYC accredited teachers, with young children. Using bus transportation, students will visit Child's Day Child Development Center; toddler through Pre-K during class time. Child Development focuses on the knowledge and skills related to the development, care, guidance and protection of children. We will also study the principles and procedures for promoting the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of young children, including those with special needs. If you plan to work with children of all ages in your future, this is the fun, creative, and active class for you! |
